The Amer-I-Can Foundation For Social Change

The Foundation

The Amer-I-Can Foundation for Social Change is a non-profit public benefit corporation, filed March 8, 1993 with the state of California by Jim Brown.  The corporation is organized and operated exclusively for charitable purposes.  Special emphasis is placed upon programs involving youth in high crime and low income communities; however, social support and referral services are offered to anyone in need of community resources to assist them in becoming self-reliant.  It is Jim Brown's contention that self-esteem of an individual is raised only when they improve their lives and achieve success through self-determination.

Mission Statement

What We Believe

The Amer-I-Can Foundation for Social Change is a humanitarian community outreach program designed as an intervention and prevention tool to curb violence through the initiation of community enrichment projects, preventative care, and human development programs.  The foundation relies upon grants, private donations, and profits from the Amer-I-Can Program, Inc. as a funding base.  Operations include the forming of Peace Squads led by local community leaders in urban centers nationwide; community cleanups; mentoring programs; and youth activities.  The purpose of the foundation is to help local youth take pride in their communities and participate in its enrichment by helping the elderly and disadvantaged, performing neighborhood cleanups, engaging in sports and local events, and other civic responsibilities.

A Message From The Chairman

Jim Brown
Jim Brown

Since 1988, I have lived my life in prisons, schools, juvenile camps, and poor communities.  My purpose was to learn, to teach, to build relationships, and to make an investment in those who wanted to make an investment in themselves.  I knew that if given the proper opportunity, most people would like to make a positive change in their lives.

With the help of so many of you, this thought has proven itself to be true.  So many lives have been saved since 1988 because gang members and ex-convicts have taken a major step and dedicated themselves to not only changing their own lives, but the lives of so many others.

The success of  The Amer-I-Can Program Life-Management Skills Education is well documented both in quantitative and qualitative data, but that is not good enough.

Now, I'm reaching out to all communities and asking you to join with the Amer-I-Can Foundation for Social Change in developing a national coalition of state and local government, faith based and community organizations, and law enforcement agencies in declaring was on violence, particularly youth violence across the USA.  Our weapons of choice in this war will be love and caring, education, economic consideration, family rebuilding, and consistency.  I believe that these elements have been the underlying foundation of our continued success.

With your help, we will succeed.

Jim Brown
Chairman of the Amer-I-Can Foundation
